A lifestyle blog bringing you fashion, music, food, and everything else that's just nice about Bristol and beyond!
Looks like you’re stuck with just me this week, sorry guys! I won’t ramble on like I normally do, as I’m all busy and important today, but I absolutely had to do a chair dancer with a carnival theme! It is of course Notting Hill carnival this weekend and I’m sure a lot of people will be twerking their way up to London to celebrate- go eat your body weight in chicken, drink rum, and dance, for the love of music, Dance! Unfortunately we are not able to attend, gutted! It’s going to be banging but we are celebrating at a festival of our own…
The Passion Radio Bristol and Star and Garter mini fest, Albany Green, Montpelier, 25th (that’s bank holiday Sunday), 12pm-6am (paaaarty), be there or we’ll come and find you and make you be there! It’s free but we will be raising money for Passion and the Bristol Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Support Group, so bring some dorra. It’s a family event so loads for kids to do in the day but it goes on all night so all you ravers, and you know who you are, come and dutty wine until the small hours! Duchess will be DJing along side a host of other great DJs and live acts. Phew, self promotion over!
Right back to the chair dancer! Here are my top three tracks that I think are going to kick off at carnival…Fx
Toddla T – Flash
Miss Meg Pope sent this to me the other day and I’ve been listening to it constantly ever since. It’s dropped just in time for Carnival, how convenient. Good work Mr Toddla T.
Jus Now – Move Your Body Parts
Just Jus Now all of the time! They are so carnival you can’t even stand it. There’s not a good, full version of Tun Up on soundcloud so you’re getting “Check your body parts” which is just as awesome. Meg and I have seen Jus Now live a few times now and they put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. If you are going to carnival, do not miss them.
Ms Dynamite and Shy FX – Cloud 9
Two musical heavy weights coming together to create something truly amazing. They’re going back to their roots and this track has got a nice reggae touch but it’s also got that recognisable D&B vibe from Shy FX plus I just love Ms Dynamite’s tone- she’s one seriously awesome lady. Meg and I have also seen Ms Dynamite live and man can she work up a crowd! Love!
