A lifestyle blog bringing you fashion, music, food, and everything else that's just nice about Bristol and beyond!
Christmas is only round the corner and we all know that the madness (and maybe stress) has officially started when we see the Coca Cola advert back on our tellys! So with all this festive jolly buzzing around here are our Just Nice’s of the week!
Meg’s weekly highlight is:
Last week the Tonight show on ITV featured a story about a young man called Will. Will has been in hospital for months now, and is urgently awaiting a heart transplant. However, due to the lack of people on the organ donation register, there’s a severe shortage of donor hearts out there, so all Will can do is wait.
Will is my cousin, and he’s 20 years old. Before he got ill he was studying at Bristol Uni, so right now he should be celebrating the end of term…not waiting for a heart transplant.
So although it may seem that there’s very little that we do for Will other than wait, there is. If you’re not already registered as an organ donor then it couldn’t be easier – all you need to do is fill in a really quick form, which you can do here.
Will’s lucky enough to have some amazing friends in Bristol, all of whom have been going out of their way to raise awareness of his situation and ultimately, get people to sign up to the donor register. I’d like to say a special thank you to Tash Isaac, who’s not only written a beautifully worded blog about Will, but has set up a Twitter account to raise awareness – you can follow it and spread the word here @popepower.
If you’re not already a donor then please take the time to register and spread the word about the importance of organ donation – it could save someone’s life.
The Brazilian Grand Prix!
If you have been reading this blog for a while then you may have spotted that I am a big Formula 1 fan… No really I am and I have even tried to turn the masses with my blog post on why it’s just nice! This is why this week it had to simply be my only choice because the Brazilian Grand Prix had it all – and I mean it all! There were crashes, there was rain, there was some crazy overtaking and there was complete pandemonium just in the first lap! All of the drama from this season finally coming to a head and this race decided that Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel was to become the three times world champion only beating Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso by three points… It was a truly wonderful weekend for the sport and the BBC coverage was brilliant! Its still on iplayer if anyone does fancy a sneaky watch, but all I can really say is bring on next year!!!
