So there are few things I love more than cheese and music. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that they’re probably two of my favourite things. So what better way to combine the two than with the Global Cheese Awards’ bizarre, yet kind of genius competition?
The Global Cheese Awards have teamed up with the UK’s leading cheddar brands, Cathedral City and Wyke Farms, and they’re looking for the West Country’s best rapper. But this is no ordinary rapping competition! Your rap must be entirely about…yep, you’ve guessed it…CHEESE!
Now there’s really not much to it! You, or a group of fellow cheese lovers need to create a 40-60 second rap that includes the words ‘Cheese’, ‘Frome Cheese Show’, ‘Global Cheese Awards’, ‘Cathedral City’ and ‘Wyke Farms’, and I can imagine the more types of cheese you can squeeze in there the better (see, I did a rhyme right there!).
The competition is fronted by 22 year old Ren Turnock, who you might recognise from the famed Yeo Valley Rap adverts. If your rap’s successful Ren will be one of the judges who’ll be rating your skills at the Frome Cheese Show on September 8, and let’s face it – they were rapping about yoghurt, which isn’t half as good as cheese!
The grand prize includes the chance to record your track in a recording studio AND a luxury hamper of cheese for all participants in your group.
We’ve already had loads of fun trying to conjure up our own cheese raps, and I know Cloe in particular is taking it VERY seriously, so why not give it a go?
In the meantime – why not get a bit of inspiration from Yeo Valley’s attempt!
